Slime Season 4 is airing - here is the refresher you need
That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime has been running long enough that plenty of people fell off somewhere around Season 3 and never found a clean way back in. Season 4 is a decent re-entry point, as long as you have the basics fresh.
The basics
- Where to watch: Crunchyroll, weekly on Fridays.
- Season 4 premiered in spring 2026 and is still running.
- The films and spin-offs (Scarlet Bond, The Slime Diaries) are optional.
The lapsed-fan refresher
If you have forgotten Season 3, remember these:
- Rimuru is a nation-builder now, not an adventurer. The show is mostly diplomacy, infrastructure and alliances.
- Tempest is a recognised nation with a lot of powerful friends and a lot of nervous neighbours.
- Season 3 was setup. A slow build of political tension that Season 4 starts cashing in.
What Season 4 is doing
- Larger-scale conflict between nations rather than monster fights.
- More focus on the supporting cast running their own arcs.
- A clearer forward direction after Season 3's slower stretch.
If your complaint about Season 3 was "not much happened," this season is the answer to that.
Is it beginner-friendly?
Not from here. Slime is one of the isekai series - anime where someone is transported into another world - that genuinely rewards starting at episode one. The early seasons are also the most fun, so it is not a chore.
