One Piece is one of the greatest anime ever made — but with over 1100 episodes, it's also one of the most intimidating. The good news? About 10% of those episodes are filler, and you can skip them entirely without missing a single plot point.

This is the definitive One Piece filler list for 2026. Every filler episode identified, every arc assessed, and a clear path through the Grand Line that cuts your watch time by dozens of hours.

    The quick answer

    One Piece has roughly 99 filler episodes out of 1100+. That's about a 9% filler rate — much lower than Naruto or Bleach. You can safely skip all of them and the story will make perfect sense. If you're in a rush, skip episodes 54–61, 131–143, 196–206, 220–226, 326–336, 382–384, 406–407, 457–458, 492, 542, 575–578, 590, 626–628, 747–750, 780–782, 895–896, and 907.

What is filler and why does One Piece have it?

Filler episodes are anime-original content not based on the manga. They exist because anime production sometimes catches up to the manga's pace, and the studio needs to buy time. Toei Animation handles this differently than most studios — instead of creating long filler arcs (like Naruto), they tend to stretch canon episodes with slower pacing and add short filler arcs between major sagas.

This means One Piece filler is relatively contained. Most filler arcs are 5–15 episodes long and clearly separated from the main story. Some fans even enjoy a few of them — the G-8 Arc is famously one of the best filler arcs in any anime.

Most One Piece filler is forgettable, but there's one major exception:

G-8 Arc (196–206) — This is genuinely one of the best filler arcs in anime history. The Straw Hats crash-land into a Marine fortress and have to escape using their wits. It's funny, well-written, and the original characters are excellent. Many fans consider it honorary canon. Watch it.

Everything else — Safe to skip. The Ice Hunter, Spa Island, and Silver Mine arcs are generic adventure filler with no lasting impact.

Where do the movies fit in?

One Piece has 15+ movies, but most are non-canon standalone adventures. The important ones:

    1. 1One Piece Film: Strong World (2009) — Watch after Thriller Bark (ep 381). Written by Oda.
    2. 2One Piece Film: Z (2012) — Watch after Fish-Man Island (ep 574). Great action.
    3. 3One Piece Film: Gold (2016) — Watch after Dressrosa (ep 746).
    4. 4One Piece Film: Red (2022) — Watch after Wano Act 3 (ep 1050+). Shanks focus.

    Where to watch One Piece

    • Crunchyroll — Full series, simulcast (US, UK, most regions)
    • Netflix — First ~1000 episodes in many regions, plus the live-action adaptation
    • Funimation (now merged with Crunchyroll) — Dubbed episodes available

    How long will this take?

    | Route | Episodes | Time |

    |-------|----------|------|

    | Canon only | ~1010 episodes | ~337 hours (14 days nonstop) |

    | Canon + good filler | ~1020 episodes | ~340 hours |

    | Everything | ~1100+ episodes | ~367+ hours |

Realistically, watching 3–4 episodes per day, canon-only One Piece takes about 8–9 months. It's a commitment, but fans universally say it's worth it.

    Frequently asked questions

Is One Piece too long to start in 2026?

No. The pacing picks up significantly after the timeskip, and the current arcs (Wano, Egghead) are some of the best in the series. Starting now means you get to experience the final saga as it airs. There's never been a better time.

Can I watch One Piece on Netflix?

Yes, Netflix has the first ~1000 episodes in many regions, plus the live-action adaptation. For the latest episodes, you'll need Crunchyroll.

Should I watch One Piece dubbed or subbed?

Both are good. The Funimation dub is well-regarded, especially from Water 7 onwards. The sub has the advantage of being caught up to the latest episode.

What's the best arc to judge if One Piece is for you?

If you're not hooked by Arlong Park (episodes 31–44), One Piece might not be for you. But most people who reach Water 7 (episode 227) become lifers.

Is the One Piece manga faster than the anime?

Yes, significantly. The manga has no filler and tighter pacing. You can read the entire manga in about 100–120 hours compared to 337+ hours for the anime.
